About
Skateboard Instructors Association (Skate IA) is an offshoot of Skate IA, which runs certifications for inline and quad (roller) skaters. This certification program of teaching was created from the PSIA (skiing) association’s teaching program and was developed for wheeled sports. Skateboard IA is a Professional Membership Organization which provides liability insurance for those wishing to teach, including insurance coverage for the locations of the classes as required by many parks & recreations. We also provide templates for marketing such , an postcards, posters and business cards and an Instructor Search Engine so students can find you.
Contributors:
Skate IA is grateful for the contributions of Jay Isolini (in photo at right) for his initial help with
the manual including the photoshoot. Additionally Kameron Slouka, Christian Weygand and Blair Alexander for additional material and editing. As anyone who has started a business knows, it is so difficult to start a business and having such talent on the project means we are set up for success!
Also, similar thanks to Rain Daley and Nate Blackburn who contributed content to the Longboard Instructor Manual. Not only great to work with, but watching them tear down the steep hills was a marvel.
To all skaters connected with Skateboard IA: no matter what sport is performed, when done well, really well, there is a grace and rhythm which links them together. Skateboard and Longboard, though quite different both have a beauty, a fluidity, a gracefulness which creates a dance. Good skaters cause their audience to momentarialy hold their breath, the audience wants to see the success of the move, but good skaters even make the crash a part of the dance.
To all of you connected with Skateboard IA, thank you for building it, believing in it and help shaping it. You are the best of the best for so many reasons.
